Our 2024 Sailing Season is Now Open!

Schooner Suva

SAIL BACK IN TIME

Join us for a Whidbey Island sailing experience on Penn Cove!

Sit back as the sails are hoisted, the engine turned off, and we cruise across the water while enjoying the scenic views of Penn Cove, Mount Baker and the Cascade Range. This is a gentle sailing experience perfect for the whole family. We sail where the wind is the best, perhaps past Snakelum Point where the Lower Skagit Tribes lived to the east, or the Penn Cove mussel farms to the west.

We depart the picturesque Coupeville wharf every Friday, Saturday and Sunday on our historic 1925 wooden pilot house schooner.

An unforgettable experience

Sightings of seals, bald eagles, herons, and osprey are common, as well as the occasional whale including orcas. Our all volunteer crew happily shares their knowledge about the area’s flora and fauna as well as maritime history. Bring along some snacks, a meal from one of Coupeville’s restaurants or a bottle of wine. Explore the pilothouse, galley and salon below deck, take a turn steering the ship, or just sit back and relax with the wind in your hair. Come sail back in time to the days when the Mosquito fleet and Native American wooden canoes plied these waters. This is a Whidbey Island experience you won’t want to miss!

Celebrate your big moments on the Suva

Suva also offers private charters, making it the perfect setting for a family reunion, office outing, wedding, birthdays, or get together with close friends! Be sure to check out our Special Events page where we offer many public special events throughout the season including visiting the Penn Cove mussel farm, sunset cruises, trips to boat shows, history sails and cruises with partner business.

Kind Words

Amazing experience to sail on a piece of PNW history. Lovely sunset trip with calm seas and light winds, navigating Penn Cove and a quick trip through the Penn Cove Mussel Farm. Great crew with lots of knowledge and very friendly.

It was a beautiful day to say goodbye to my Father-in-law aboard the Schooner Suva. The crew was amazing and took such lovely care of the family and mother-in-law.

My family and I went out for a get-together on the Suva. The boat is gorgeous, the crew is experienced and friendly (and it's clear they love what they do), and you can't beat sailing in the Puget Sound.
