SAIL BACK IN TIME

Join us for a Whidbey Island sailing experience on Penn Cove!

Sit back as the sails are hoisted, the engine turned off, and we cruise across the water while enjoying the scenic views of Penn Cove, Mount Baker and the Cascade Range. This is a gentle sailing experience perfect for the whole family. We sail where the wind is the best, perhaps past Snakelum Point where the Lower Skagit Tribes lived to the east, or the Penn Cove mussel farms to the west.

We depart the picturesque Coupeville wharf every Friday, Saturday and Sunday on our historic 1925 wooden pilot house schooner.

An unforgettable experience

Sightings of seals, bald eagles, herons, and osprey are common, as well as the occasional whale including orcas. Our all volunteer crew happily shares their knowledge about the area’s flora and fauna as well as maritime history. Bring along some snacks, a meal from one of Coupeville’s restaurants or a bottle of wine. Explore the pilothouse, galley and salon below deck, take a turn steering the ship, or just sit back and relax with the wind in your hair. Come sail back in time to the days when the Mosquito fleet and Native American wooden canoes plied these waters. This is a Whidbey Island experience you won’t want to miss!
